THE CAREGIVERS

In development, spring – fall, 2010.

Full length, app. 90 minutes, no intermission, eight characters.

Lester, a middle age ex-Boeing engineer haunted by his ex-wife, and Sasha, a much younger Gypsy woman, collide in a hospice house on Puget Sound. As caregivers to the demented and the dying they face their own demons, navigate between the present and the hereafter,  fall in love and try not to out-con each other. Gypsys merge with the Gajo – and like all conflicted far-flung families they battle the forces of the inferno, purgatorio, paradiso. Lester and Sasha may not get anywhere, but they’ll die trying. Is this One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest meets Romeo and Juliet?  Maybe …. but there’s no music, only a little dancing. #
